BKB Policies and Code Of Conduct
BKB is about teamwork, commitment, and both PVP and PVE combat. While we support PVE combat and questing, our focuses in SW:TOR will be PVP and endgame raid content. A "guild comes first" attitude is what we expect our members to have. If you just want to log-in, level up your character, and ignore the needs of the guild, then this is not the guild for you. SW:TOR will present us with many new challenges, new experiences, and an expansive environment set in the Star Wars universe.
General Policies
The first and most important policy to remember is that real life comes first. Many members of BKB have to balance their leisure time with things such as work, school, raising a family, and so forth. For that reason, we do not have mandatory play times or days. Just be on when you can. That being said, there will be a spot on the forums to let us know if you are going to be absent for any prolonged period. A "prolonged period" is considered to be any time that you won't be logging in for 10 or more consecutive days. As a courtesy to the leadership and your fellow guild-mates, please do so at the earliest possible convenience. We understand if you can't be on; we simply expect you to let us know. Please note that players who have not logged on their characters for 30 days will be removed from guild. For this reason, if you have alts that you only play occasionally, please log them on from time to time so as not to reach this threshold. Posting in the Vacation and Inactivity thread will also exemto you from this. Cleanouts will occur on the 1st of each month.
We also expect that players will handle themselves in a decent, civilized manner. While disagreements and personality conflicts are inevitable anytime a large group gets together, we expect players to solve their differences in a polite and respectful manner. While our Leadership is there as a resource to assist you, they are not there to baby-sit or hold your hand. We expect maturity from our members. Not being able to settle your differences in a civil manner demonstrates that you do not have the requisite maturity to be a BKB member.
Website registration is mandatory for inclusion in all group activities such as hard modes and ops. If you are not signed up on the site, you will be listed in the guild roster as an "Acolyte" and will not be eligible. As soon as you register, your status will be changed to "Adept" and you will become eligible for these activities. Registration is also required for players wishing to have alts in the guild.
We don't allow split guild allegiance. If you want a toon in another guild, you need to take all your toons there. Experience has shown that both guilds generally get the short end of the stick in these situations. We need players who are loyal to BKB.
Signing up for events must be done by each player themselves. This prevents any confusion or miscommunication.
Vent Policy
Vent is for in-game use, game-related, and other conversation. Vent is not mandatory, but is strongly encouraged to get to know your fellow guildies. Using Vent for guild group content such as Hard Modes and Operations is mandatory. Vent is the only voice-comm program used for guild activities.
We also ask that all players respect each other and to control their language on Vent, particularly during times when people's children may be awake. Some of our members use
speakers, so they are not the only ones that hear what is said. Abusive language and behavior will not be tolerated.
If someone indicates they are offended by the subject matter or language used for any reason or for no reason whatsoever, please desist in the offensive conduct. There are plenty of channels in Vent to continue your conversation in without offending others.
PVP Policy
We have a strict policy no-griefing policy when it comes to PVP; below are the guidelines. Griefing is not tolerated in BKB. The following is defined as griefing (however, note that this list is not considered all-inclusive):
- Intentional friendly fire or deliberately performing actions detrimental to team members' game performance
- Using third-party hack programs
- Use of lag-switches or any other method of producing intentional lag
- Purposely disconnecting so you don't die in PVP if there is no built-in log out period
- Exploitation of unintended game mechanics
- Spamming
- Purposely not assisting the team (e.g. "feeding" - deliberately helping the other team by getting "killed" and wasting key game elements)
- Collusion with the opposition, referred to as "ghosting"
Naming and Confidential Information Policy
First and foremost, your in-game name should match your forum name. When creating alts, the character name should be a derivative of your base name whenever possible. For example: Norag becomes Noragna for a female alt. Likewise, your name here and on the SW:TOR forums should match. We understand that some people name their characters differently for persona and RP reasons. That is fine, just bring it to our attention. Offensive, derogatory, or names in poor taste can result in removal.
All materials that are here on this website amd are only accessible to registered members should stay that way; there should be no divulging of things we discover, tactics, or any other information that is private and for our members only. Similarly, all information shared by members for registration, on the forums, or on the website itself is used only for communication directly related to guild announcements, events, and newsletters. Violation of this confidential information policy will result in immediate removal.
Police Ourselves:
Any member of BKB that sees the Code of Conduct being violated should screenshot the incident and submit it to a member of Leadership. If you do not get the opportunity to get a screenshot or it is a violation not amenable to screenshots (i.e. verbal harassment), then simply report it to a member of Leadership. If at any time you feel someone has crossed the line in their personal conduct, please do not hesitate to contact any member of Leadership with your concerns. We cannot address issues we do not know about and we can't be monitoring everything 24 hours a day. All matters will be handled anonymously. Any retalitory conduct for disciplinary actions should be reported immediatly. Such conduct will result in immediate removal.
No BKB member with any kind of authority will discipline a member with harsh and aggressive language over Mumble, in-game, or via the forums. If you are not able to talk to a player about an issue using a polite professional way of communicating, then don’t. Bring it to the attention of another senior member, they will help out or ask someone to help. Members of authority that cannot follow this guideline will be removed from the position or removed from the guild.
Hackers Beware! Anyone caught hacking the BKB site will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the local, county, state, or international law and damages will be sought for the disruption of this site by these means.
